When you arrive in the UK, you have two days to take a PCR test if you are planning to make a trip to the UK (Ireland excluded) from a foreign country.
Ensure you book the PCR test from a government-approved provider before the day of travel.
Even though you have to take a PCR test on day 2 if you’re unvaccinated, you will not be required to isolate. Additionally, if your result comes back positive, you are advised to stay at home and avoid contact with others.

The Fit to Fly PCR test is used to confirm your current coronavirus status. You will need to present the proof of your negative test result at the airport as your Fit to Fly certificate.
Depending on the country you are travelling to, you may have to show proof of a negative COVID-19 result prior to arrival. It’s recommended that you stay updated with the requirements of the country you’ll be visiting.
